Didier Lockwood

Didier Lockwood was a French violinist and a leading pioneer of the electric violin in jazz. He played with the French band Magma during the 1970s and released his first solo album, New World, in 1979.
He recorded more than twenty albums and paid tribute to his mentor Stéphane Grappelli with a record in 2000.
In 2001 he founded the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, a school near Paris dedicated to jazz and improvised music, where he taught violin and improvisation. The school continues his teaching legacy today.
