Geir Ólafsson
Also known as Geir Ólafs, Geir Olafs
Geir Ólafs, is an Icelandic singer primarily associated with popular-song repertoire presented in big-band and light-jazz settings. He has performed and released recordings under his own name, with Icelandic and English material appearing alongside one another in his catalogue. Coverage of his work has often linked him to an American-style vocal and big-band tradition, particularly classic pop standards and entertainment songs.
His releases include I'm Talking About You, an album of arrangements by pianist and bandleader Don Randi of familiar songs including “Come Together,” “Lady in Red,” and “Besame Mucho.” Ólafsson has also performed with Randi and his group Quest at The Baked Potato in Los Angeles. Streaming catalogues additionally list albums such as Þú ert yndið mitt yngsta og besta, Just a Simple Man, and Las Vegas Christmas Show, reflecting his focus on vocal pop material and Christmas repertoire.
