Gunnar Þórðarson

Gunnar Þórðarson was an Icelandic guitarist, singer, and composer whose decades-long career encompassed rock, pop, film, and theatre music. He first became known with Hljómar and later worked with Trúbrot and Ríó Tríó, while also maintaining an extensive career as a songwriter and arranger for a wide range of artists and projects.

In later years, Þórðarson also wrote orchestral and choral works and the opera Ragnheiður. His career crossed many musical styles and made him one of Iceland’s most prolific composers. His honours included the Icelandic Music Awards’ honorary award and recognition as Reykjavík City Artist.
