Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen

Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen was a Danish double bassist and one of the most admired bass players in jazz. He was performing at Copenhagen's Jazzhus Montmartre as a teenager, accompanying visiting artists including Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, and Bill Evans.
He played in Oscar Peterson's trio from 1972 to 1987, won a Grammy Award in 1974, and received the Nordic Council Music Prize in 1991.
He recorded dozens of duo albums with pianist Kenny Drew and released around forty records under his own name.
