Philip Catherine

Philip Catherine is a Belgian guitarist who began performing professionally at seventeen and released his debut album, Stream, in 1972. Charles Mingus called him "Young Django".
He has played with Larry Coryell, Chet Baker, and Stéphane Grappelli, and recorded with Bjorn Thoroddsen on BT Jazz Guitar in 1997.
Catherine studied at Berklee College of Music and replaced Jan Akkerman in the Dutch band Focus in 1976. He has recorded extensively as a leader and sideman since the 1960s.
