Guðmundur Pétursson

Guðmundur Pétursson is an Icelandic guitarist and composer. He has worked both as a solo artist and alongside other performers and bands in Icelandic music. In his own work, he uses electric and acoustic guitars as well as other instruments and studio production. His music draws on several traditions rather than a single fixed style, with connections to rock, jazz, blues, synthesizer-based music, and more experimental sound worlds.

His 2008 solo album Ologies brought together elements of rock, jazz, film music, world music, and unconventional music. In 2015, he released the instrumental album Sensus, on which he also played several instruments and handled technical work. He has also performed and recorded with artists including Bubbi Morthens, Megas, and Senuþjófarnir. The album Wandering Beings collects nine of his songs, including “The Road,” “Mercy,” and “Inside Blues.”
