About the event
It’s time for Bjossi Thor’s Guitar Feast, and this time we’re offering two different concert evenings, October 2 and 3. Joining me will be excellent guitarists and musicians, including Guðmundur Pétursson, Óskar Logi, Brynhildur Oddsdóttir, Andrés Þór, Krummi Björgvins and Börkur Hrafn.
The feast begins with a Hendrix evening on Friday, October 2, where Gummi P, Óskar Logi, Brynhildur and I will pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix, one of the best-known and most influential guitarists in history. Fúsi Óttars on drums and Bjarni Sveinbjörnsson on bass will make up the evening’s rhythm section — and nothing will be held back.
Saturday evening, October 3, will be extremely varied, with jazz, funk and country taking centre stage. Andrés Þór, the king of jazz guitar, will join us, and Krummi Björgvins and I will pay tribute to his father, Björgvin Halldórsson. Who knows, perhaps we’ll also revisit the programme I once played with Bo in Russia? Börkur Hrafn Birgisson will show us how to play funk in the style of the band Jagúar — and I’ll never be far away with something fun of my own.
The Guitar Feast has a long history, and this time we’ll also take a brief look back. Alongside the concerts, there will be a photography exhibition by Ásta Magg featuring pictures from Guitar Feasts of years past.
