Andrés Þór Gunnlaugsson

Andrés Þór Gunnlaugsson is an Icelandic jazz guitarist who has worked in Iceland’s music scene with his own jazz groups and as an instrumentalist in recording studios, concert productions, and theatre. He began studying classical guitar before taking up electric guitar, completed the jazz programme at the FÍH School of Music in 1999, and then studied jazz guitar and music education at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

He has released albums both under his own name and in collaboration with other musicians. On Relocate, issued in 2026 by the Norwegian label Losen Records, he plays electric guitar, nylon-string acoustic guitar, and pedal steel guitar, with Nico Moreaux on double bass and Magnús Trygvason Elíassen on drums. Gunnlaugsson was named Hafnarfjörður’s Civic Artist in 2014.
